Katherine started off as a member in the Felton location, naturally transitioning into her role as Community Manager. Follow along as she recaps her time with Satellite!
I’m a native Californian. Home is the Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz Mountains. I found my coworking spot at Satellite Scotts Valley in 2014, where owner Barbara Sprenger was stationed. We chatted about my becoming a community manager for that location, so I did. I am now, 9 years later, moving on to new adventures, though sad to leave.
When I became a manager, I quickly got hooked on the proprietary Deskworks software platform, because I could help members be autonomous with tools to manage their membership. I soon became a part of the Deskworks outreach team. My colleagues have been many at Satellite – from other center managers, IT support, and the software team. Owners Barbara and Ken have been like family – I will miss each of my Satellite family members.
I find Felton an especially nice location — connected to its community, serving both local residents and those passing through. Through fires and rain storms, Satellite is the touch stone in this mountain community when power and internet are out at home. My favorite thing about the members is their stories. Helping them with peace of mind in our workspace is gratifying. It has been fun sharing the software tools making sure they can be self-sufficient and comfortable using any of our workspaces.
Time away from work has been on little road trips or at gatherings with family and friends. Now it is time for the next chapter, whatever it may hold. I appreciate my time here and my future that lies ahead with my husband John. I thank you all.
