Meet Subuddh Parekh, a product management consultant and member of Satellite Santa Cruz, specializing in guiding startups and facilitating software services from India through his consulting firm. With a background in engineering, he combines technical expertise with a passion for driving innovation in technology.

What do you do for work?

My consulting firm is called Flow Inventions.

Right now I am helping a couple of AI startups create proof of concepts and find the initial product market fit. I also represent a high quality software services firm based in India and offer their services to interested clients.

How did you get started in your industry?

Having been in tech for a long time now, starting with engineering training from Stanford, I naturally moved towards management as my career progressed.

Who is your biggest influence?

I have many influences across different industries and life interests, in the tech space I would have to say Bill Gates and Elon Musk. Bill could have sat on his laurels and just enjoyed life, however he is giving away his wealth and spending his time and talent to help improve public health all over the world. Elon could also retire and sit on his laurels but he continues to create and push the limits of what we can do. 

This is how it should be, that we use our time and talent to be as useful as possible. I grew up in India and in Indian philosophy there is this idea of work for work’s sake. The creative spirit must be expressed for its own sake.

What’s something you’re excited about right now?

A couple of things: First, one of the startups I am guiding, that is building a cutting edge ML based fitness solution, is going through proof of concept demos. This is very exciting.

And second, outside of the tech space I have a passion for screenwriting and making films. A comedy short I recently completed got selected by a major film festival down in Hollywood and I am looking forward to the screening.

What brought you to Satellite Santa Cruz?

I recently shifted to Santa Cruz and was looking for a place to go during the day where I could sit and do focussed work. Remote work has its benefits but staying at home all day gets old very fast. A google search brought me to Satellite.  

I love how close it is to where I live. My commute is only 10 minutes! The desks are wide and spacious, the chairs are comfortable, and the wifi is strong. It is usually quiet and people here are respectful. The kitchen is helpful to have and parking is easy.    

Do you find it easy to make friends or networking connections here?

Yes, everyone here has been very friendly and not only have I made new friends, I’ve made new business connections too.

How do you balance work and personal time?

This is a very good question. With the phone it seems sometimes that the office day is endless. I make sure to turn off my electronics after a certain time at night. I try to leave at least one day of the weekend for some downtime or leisure activity.
