Meet Neil Thombre, one of the newest members at Satellite Workplaces Campbell. He is the Vice President of Engineering at CrystalDB, a company that offers a Self-Managing Serverless Infrastructure enabling customers to scale their PostgreSQL databases effortlessly.
What do you do for work?
I am the Vice President of Engineering at CrystalDB. We offer a Self-Managing Serverless Infrastructure for customers to scale their PostgreSQL databases with their needs. We are on a mission to eliminate all manual intervention that is typically needed, even for tuning the database, with our Machine Learning-based AutoDBA feature.
How did you initially get started in your industry?
I have been in the world of databases for the last 30 years, having worked at companies like Oracle, Salesforce and Amazon (AWS). This was just a logical next step for me to join a database startup and be part of the executive team to chart its course.
Who is your biggest influence?
I have many influencers ranging from Steve Jobs (in the early days of Apple and Next) for how a company should be structured and grown, to all-time greats like J Robert Oppenheimer when it comes to managing a lot of experts and make them work together to produce something fairly quickly.
What brought you to Satellite Workplaces?
We were looking around for office spaces to work out of and trying out different locations. Satellite Campbell suited us the best in terms of location, neighborhood – with all the restaurants, coffee shops, and bars – price, and of course very friendly service.
What’s your favorite thing about working here?
Satellite Workplace provides a convenient working environment with everything you need at the office: coffee, kitchen, water, printing, easy access for off hours and ability to book conference rooms when we need it. Billing and invoicing is also very convenient and the pricing is straightforward. There is always someone at the front desk during office hours to take delivery of any mail that comes through which is very convenient.
